Standard Resin
High Detail Visual Prototyping
High Fidelity

Formlabs Standard Resins provide the highest resolution for demanding visual parts. They capture fine features (down to 25 microns) with a smooth, matte surface finish. Ideal for parts where aesthetics and tolerance are critical but high impact resistance is not required.
Best For: Visual Prototypes, Concept Models, High-Detail Figurines.

Tough 2000
Simulates ABS Plastic
Strong & Stiff

Tough 2000 is the strongest and stiffest material in the Formlabs Tough family. It simulates the mechanical properties of ABS. It withstands high stress without snapping and is perfect for functional parts that need to be rigid but durable.
Best For: Enclosures, Jigs, Fixtures, Mechanical Connectors.

Tough 1500
Simulates Polypropylene (PP)
Resilient

Tough 1500 is the most resilient material in the family. It simulates Polypropylene (PP). It is stiff enough to hold shape but flexible enough to bend and spring back quickly under cyclic loading. Ideal for parts that need to snap, bend, and recover.
Best For: Snap-fits, Living Hinges, Springy Parts.

Durable Resin
Simulates Polyethylene (PE)
Low Friction

Durable Resin is a low-modulus, high-elongation material that simulates Polyethylene (PE). It has a low-friction surface and is highly impact resistant. It is pliable and squeezable, making it excellent for wear-resistant parts or squeezable prototypes.
Best For: Squeezable Bottles, Low-Friction Bushings, Packaging.

Frequently Asked Questions about Resins
Why use Formlabs Resin instead of FDM?
Resin (SLA/LFS) provides vastly superior surface finish and detail. It is isotropic (equally strong in all directions), making it ideal for watertight parts and precise assemblies.
What is the difference between Tough 2000 and Tough 1500?
**Tough 2000** is stiffer (like ABS) and harder to bend. **Tough 1500** is more resilient (like Polypropylene) and springs back quickly after bending. Use 2000 for rigid housings and 1500 for snap-fits.
Can you print Bio-Compatible parts?
Yes! With our **Form 4B**, we can print with specialized BioMed resins suitable for skin contact and short-term mucosal contact. Contact us for specific certification requirements.
